Counselling & Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy offers a structured space to understand what is shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and to create change that is sustained over time.

You may already have some insight into what’s not working, but find yourself repeating the same patterns, feeling stuck, or unsure how to move forward. This work focuses on going beyond surface-level coping, to examine what sits underneath and how it continues to have an impact.

What brings people to this work

Clients I work with often come with:

  • Ongoing anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm

  • The impact of past experiences or trauma

  • Difficulties in relationships, intimacy, or communication

  • Periods of low mood, disconnection, or lack of direction

  • Patterns such as perfectionism, self-criticism, or emotional shutdown

  • A sense that something isn’t working, despite appearing to cope externally

At times, these difficulties are clear. At other times, they are harder to define, but still present in how you experience yourself and others.

How I work

I offer both short-term, focused work and longer-term psychotherapy.

Short-term work can help address a specific issue or period of difficulty. Longer-term work allows for a more in-depth exploration of patterns, identity, and relational dynamics, leading to more substantial and lasting change.

My approach is integrative, drawing from a range of therapeutic models, including CBT, Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Existential, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Solution-Focused approaches.

This allows the work to be adapted to your needs while maintaining a clear and structured focus.

Focus of the work

Our work together may involve:

  • Understanding emotional and behavioural patterns

  • Exploring the impact of past experiences and relationships

  • Developing greater emotional awareness and expression

  • Examining how you relate to yourself and others

  • Creating practical shifts in how you respond and engage in your day-to-day life

The aim is not only insight, but meaningful and sustained change

Areas I work with

I work with a range of presenting concerns, including:

  • Anxiety (including generalised, social, and trauma-related)

  • Stress and burnout

  • Trauma and its ongoing impact

  • Depression and low mood

  • Anger and emotional regulation

  • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Perfectionism and high self-criticism

  • Bereavement and loss

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we look at the underlying patterns that maintain these experiences.

Specialist focus

I have particular experience working with:

  • Black and racialised clients navigating identity, pressure, and the impact of racism

  • LGBTQ+ clients, including those exploring or navigating gender identity and sexuality

  • Clients who feel unseen or misunderstood within more traditional therapeutic spaces

This work is grounded in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach, where you do not need to minimise or over-explain your experiences.

Fit

This approach tends to suit clients who are:

  • Open to exploring their experiences in depth

  • Willing to engage consistently in the process

  • Interested in both understanding and change

It may be less suited to those looking for immediate solutions without engaging in deeper work.

Next Steps

The first step is to get in contact. This can be done via telephone, email or the contact form on my website. Getting in contact gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about how I practice and clarify any concerns you might have in regard to pursuing therapy or coaching. The initial contact also gives you the opportunity to arrange an initial session.

The second step is an initial session. This is a 50-60 minute session and is a chance for us to meet, speak about what has brought you for therapy or coaching and to decide if you want to continue working together. There is no obligation to return if you decide that the service is not for you.

If you decide to continue, then a day and time will be arranged to fit with your availability. The number of sessions is flexible around your needs.
